Types Of Sweat Related Problems And Home Remedies For Same

For those who live in hot humid climate, summer sweat is enough to give nightmares. Summer sweat is synonym to an array of itchy issues like prickly heat, sweat rash, body odour etc.

To enjoy summers, it is best to turn to these grandma suggested home remedies which will keep the sweat related problems at an arms distance.

  • Body Odour

Excessive sweating in summers is quite normal and if your sweat makes you a victim of Body odour then you are doomed. It makes others uncomfortable and is a source of unpleasant embarrassment for you. Other than practising proper hygiene, here are some tips to get rid of body odour:

Baking soda

Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one tablespoon of lemon juice and apply it to your underarms and other body parts where you sweat terribly. Leave it for ten minutes and take a shower without scrubbing. It is antibacterial and absorbs sweat and reduces body odour.

Rosemary

Menthol and chlorophyll present in rosemary are natural deodorants which fight body odour. Add 5 to 6 drops of rosemary essential oil in one ounce of water and apply it under your arms as a deodorant. You can also add few drops to your bathing water.

– Sage

Sage is antibacterial and prevents odour causing bacterial growth, it also combats body odour by reducing sweat gland activity. Add 2 tablespoons of dried sage to one litre of hot water and allow it to steep for 10 minutes. Once, the solution cools use it to rinse your underarms at least twice daily to get positive results.

  • Sweat Rash

Prickly heat which is also known as sweat rash bugs you down during summer and it causes painful itching and skin inflammation. Here are some home remedies which will provide you much needed relief from prickly heat:

– Cold treatment

Cold compresses are known to provide immediate relief and they also prevent sweat rash to spread further. Using ice cubes wrapped in dishcloth for about ten minutes on the affected area and repeating this cold treatment every six hours alleviates inflammation caused due to prickly heat.

– Sandalwood powder

Mix sandalwood powder with rose water to make a thick paste and apply it on the affected area. Leave it for 20 to 30 minutes and wash off with cold water. Its soothing properties cool the skin and speeds up the recovery.

– Fullers earth

Make a thick paste of fuller’s earth using water and apply it to the heat rash. Wash it off after 15 minutes. It is an effective remedy for treating prickly heat and reduces inflammation along with itchiness.

– Aloe Vera

Using aloe Vera gel from the leaf of aloe plant is known to alleviate symptoms of heat rash.

  • Frizzy hair

Summer sun causes your scalp to sweat and it leads to frizzy and brittle hair. Here is an easy home remedy to revitalize your sweaty rough hair:

– Avocado

Avocado rejuvenates the complete hair shafts. Prepare your own avocado hair mask by mixing a ripe avocado, one teaspoon of wheat-germ oil with one teaspoon of jojoba oil. Apply it to your hair, and cover your scalp using a shower cap, leave it for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

– Tea tree oil

After washing your hair, add few drops of tea tree oil to a mug of water and use it as a final rinse. Antibacterial and antiseptic properties of tea tree oil soothes itchy scalp in summers and keeps dandruff away.
