What is multiple sclerosis?

It is one chronic disease, and scientists were searching clues till today to cure it! Though still there is no proper treatment to cure it totally. It actually affects your brain, spinal cord and optic nerves of your eyes. Its effects are different with person to person.But actually, it causes problems with vision, your overall balance, muscle control etc.

Multiple Sclerosis is first attacks your immune system. It used to be some viral attack or may be due to the autoimmune activity of our immune cells. The myelin sheath (the fatty materials that wrap around your nerve fibers for protection) get destroyed totally. Due to sclerosis, this myelin sheath used to get depleted and ultimately the nerve became protection less, and multiple scars have formed. Nerve cells play very important role in our body functions! and that is how different symptoms arise with disabilities.

As your nerves can not transmitted signal correctly, that’s why some common symptoms observed in this disease are as follows:

  • Take food rich in Vitamin-D: Research says vitamin D plays a crucial role in the occurrence of multiple sclerosis. You can go through “National Institutes of Health” website to search more for vitamin D and this disease. Take Vitamin D fortified food more.
  • Try to take less fat but good proteins. Lean meat, poultry etc are good sources.
  • Eat whole grains instead of refined one. Brown rice will be more healthy than refined and normal one.
  • Try to include 3 or more servings of fresh fruits. As it can provide you lots of antioxidants and minerals that will boost your immunity.
  • Take green vegetables and other vegetables more, as they are less in fat content but rich in fiber, carbohydrates, and proteins. Vitamins and minerals are also there.
