SINUSITIS AND HOME TREATMENT WITH FOODS

Sinusitis is a condition in which there is infection or inflammation or swelling in sinuses. It is also known as sinus infection or rhinosinusitis. It is usually found in maxillary sinuses, frontal sinuses, ethmoid sinuses, sphenoid sinuses that are located in cheekbones, low middle part of the forehead, between eyes, bones behind the nose.

CAUSES –

Some common causes include the common cold, allergic rhinitis that is swelling of the lining of the nose, a deviated septum that is a shift of nasal cavity, small growths in the lining of the nose that is called nasal polyps.

TYPES –

  • Acute sinusitis normally starts with cold-like symptoms including nasal discharge, nasal obstruction and last about 2 – 4 weeks.
  • Subacute sinusitis normally lasts 4 – 12 weeks.
  • Chronic sinusitis normally lasts about 12 weeks or longer.
  • Recurrent sinusitis comes several times in a year.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS –

Some common sign and symptoms of sinusitis are a sinus headache, fever, facial tenderness, nasal stuffiness feeling, occasionally facial swelling, pain or pressure in the sinuses, ears, and teeth.

SOME HOME REMEDIES AND FOODS TO PREVENT SINUSITIS

  • NASAL IRRIGATION – Nasal irrigation is an effective way. The nasal passage should be cleaned regularly. Clean unwanted mucus, dust from the nasal passage with water. It is also known as saline irrigation.
