Iritation In Throat Leads To Continual Dry Cough, What To Do?
Rishi Dhawan asked 8 years ago Hello Dr. Gowri, At times I feel itching in my throat and soon it leads to very bad dry cough and I feel gasping for breath. It becomes uncontrollable and it just shakes up my head and I am close to fainting sometimes. And due to this cough, I feel pain in my chest and rib muscles. Please suggest what I can do? Is this some kind of an allergy or asthmatic condition? I am 30 year old male and generally fit. Thanks in advance Rishi Dhawan
Nationwide Clinics Staff answered 8 years ago Hello Rishi, I can imagine it must be difficult when you are going through such an episode. We need to evaluate what could be the reason for this. Asthma usually presents with a wheeze, cough, tightness in the chest ad shortness of breath. It can be triggered by an allergen or an infection at times. A good idea is to get yourself examined. Also, we can get a Lung Function Test and Peakflow meter readings taken to diagnose your symptoms. Do visit a family physician who would be able to help you.
