You have to do two things – control your calories. Total amount of calories eaten through food should be less than total amount consumed (basal metabolism plus exercise). Second thing is which type of food you are eating. Our Indian food is full of carbohydrates (rice, chapati, bread) and low in protein (fish, milk, egg, chicken, soyabean, dal, paneer). You need to reduce carbohydrate and increase protein. Often the indian food people have 80% of the calories from carbohydrate. it should be around 40-50% if not less.
