Description
Rheumatoid Factor (RF) or RA Factor
Ten Tips on Safe Exercises for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Why is this Test Important :
RF is an immunoglobulin M protein (or an antibody), produced by body’s immune system – this can attack the healthy tissue in the body mistaking it for foreign elements. Higher RF levels in the blood indicate autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren’s syndrome. RF is detectable in the blood of 80% of adults suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
The “normal” range (or negative test result) for rheumatoid factor is less than 14 IU/ml. Any result with values 14 IU/ml or above is considered abnormally high, elevated, or positive.
