ANTI CCP (ACCP)
Why is this Test Important :
The Anti-CCP test looks for the presence of antibodies which are produced by the body due to an autoimmune disorder. This test is typically used to aid in the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Approximately 70% of RA patients will test positive for Anti-CCP antibodies. Anti-CCP testing can also be used to help determine the severity of a person’s Arthritis.
This test is often ordered when someone has symptoms of Arthritis such as painful swollen joints in the hands or wrists, stiffness in the joints and pain in the elbows, knees, neck, shoulders, hips or feet.
The Anti-CCP test is often ordered with a Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Factor test.
