FEVER AND HEADACHE ARE THE COMMON SYMPTOMS OF ANY INFECTION

Fever is a condition in which human body temperature is elevated above 40.6 °C (105.1 °F). it is also known as pyrexia. Fever is not a disease, but a symptom which indicates there is any infection or injury or trauma or dysfunction in the body. In this condition, your body tries to elevate body temperature more than the normal 370 C (98.6 0 F), by giving a response to pyrogens.

Whereas a headache is a common complaint in every individual especially in adults in which pain is the main symptom of anywhere of head and neck region. It can be a result of either any serious condition or not. It is usually found in tension headaches, migraines, and sinusitis. There are some other causes of a headache that are fatigue, rapid intake of cold foods or drinks, head injury.

Both fever and headache can be symptoms of any kind of infection in your body. There are some common infections that induced fever and headache are as follows:

  • VIRAL FEVER – it is an illness which is caused due to infection by the virus. Influenza is the most common virus which can be a cause of mild to severe fever. A headache, body joint, and muscle ache are also accompanied with it.
  • TUBERCULOSIS – It is an illness which is caused due to infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis It usually infects lungs. It is characterized by fever, headache, fatigue, weight loss.
  • DIPHTHERIA – Diphtheria is an infection due to Corynebacterium diphtheria it usually affects nose and throat. High fever, sore throat, headache is the common symptom of this acute infection.
  • CHICKEN POX – It is also known as varicella. This infection is caused by the virus called Varicella zoster. It is characterized by red and itchy blisters that are found in the whole body. Fever, headache, loss of appetite are also present in it.
  • MEASLES – It is an airborne communicable disease which spread by saliva, coughs, sneezes from those who are already infected by the measles virus. It mainly affects the respiratory system. Symptoms of measles include fever, headache, cough, red eyes, sore throat, nasal discharge.
  • MUMPS – This viral disease is also known as epidemic parotitis. It is a viral disease caused by the mumps virus. It mainly affects parotid glands. Fever, headache, body aches, muscle pain, fatigue are the initial symptoms of mumps.
  • UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION – This acute illness is caused by the infection in upper respiratory tract involving nose, pharynx, larynx, tonsils by virus or bacteria. As a result, sore throat, sinusitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis can be seen. Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) includes fever, headache, nasal discharge, nasal obstruction.
  • TONSILLITIS – It is an inflammatory illness in the tonsil region that is caused by viruses or bacteria. Fever, headache, sore throats, pain, difficulties in swallowing food are the common symptoms of tonsillitis.

There are some other common infections that show fever and headache are Rheumatoid arthritis, Histoplasmosis, Coxsackie virus infection, Bronchitis, middle ear infection, tick-borne infection.
