BENEFITS OF FISHES AND FISH OILS

Fish is the healthiest protein source along with important nutrients. Fish and fish oils are the good sources of omega-3-Polyunsaturated fatty acids which is necessary for our good health.

Fish contain omega-3-fatty acids like EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid),Vit-D, selenium and Proteins which have several health benefits. Selenium guards against mercury poisoning and Vit-D can protect from bone deformities and other diseases.

Fish oil also contains Omega-3 fatty acids like EPA & DHA and some fish oils also contain little amount of VIT-D. It is devoid of selenium. The sources of fish oils are fatty fish like- mackerel, tuna, herring, sardines and salmon.

Benefits of Fish and Fish Oils are as follows:

• It reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes as PUFA improves heart health and also helps in lowering LDL (Bad) cholesterol and increasing HDL (Good) cholesterol.

• Fish and its oil contain DHA & EPA which helps in brain development and it also controls ADHD (Hyperactivity Disorder) and other mental problem.

• It has anti-aging effects. Fish consumption improves brain function in old age and also controls memories and emotions and thus prevents from Alzheimer’s disease.

• Both EPA & DHA acts as antidepressant and including fish and its oil into our diet helps to recover from depression and anxiety.

• It is a good source of important nutrient i.e. Vit-D and good for those who have insufficient sunlight exposure.

There are some side effects of taking fish oils like blenching, bad breath, heartburn, nausea, loose motion, rash, and nose bleeding but it can be reduced if these fish oils taken with meals. And if anyone is having fish or fish oil allergy then consult to a physician before including into the diet.
