Kerala and Mumbai coast is the chief center for prawn. Prawns are found in the seawater, freshwater. The quality of the prawn depends upon the temperature, salinity and oxygen concentration.

How prawns affect our health?

  1. Rich in Polyunsaturated fatty acid– Prawns are one of the good sources of polyunsaturated fatty acid. The unsaturated fat tries to reduce the blood cholesterol level. Prawns like other fish and shrimps are rich with omega 3 which body cannot produce. Omega 3 reduces inflammation, risk of heart disease, arthritis and cancer.
  2. Good source of protein- Prawn contains healthy protein it is the healthy option over other bad protein. Red meat contains high saturated fatty acid. It is better to choose prawn.
  3. Sodium content- Prawn healthy choice over red meat. Patient with low blood pressure can have low sodium fish. Although daily consumption sodium more than 2300 milligram can cause the problem of heart disease, hypertension and osteoporosis. Prawn consumption should be limited for the patient who has the problem of hypertension and heart disease.
  4. Strengthen bone and teeth-  Prawn contains good calcium, it tries to maintain the integrity of the teeth and bone. It lowers the risk of arthritis and osteoporosis.
