Ibs Can Be Reversed

 

IBS or Irritable bowel Syndrome the most common digestive issue in young adults and elderly due to stress and untimely eating habits is on the rise in the past few years.It is amazing how our digestive system performs 100s of functions to breakdown the food that we eat and give us energy to perform activities.Its the only engine we have to fuel our body and its our prime duty to keep it in the best possible  condition.

What is IBS?

Those of you who have never heard of IBS its a digestive tract issue where in the bad bacteria in our gut is out grown the good bacteria in the gut.The reasons for depletion of the gut bacteria varies from Stress,alcohol,low fiber intake,high sugar intake,over use of antibiotics,painkillers and anti inflammatory drugs.

People with IBS have the following symptoms

  1. Bloating
  2. Cramps
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Constipation
  5. Pain and discomfort.

The major concern is people with IBS find it difficult to move out of home as they are unsure when the discomfort will start.Though a reversible condition if a sensible approach is used, many people end up not exploring and accepting it as it is.

Firstly we need to find the route cause which most probably is eating habits and the common food allergens like dairy,corn,peanut,soy etc.An elimination diet can find out the food allergen that is the cause of IBS.

Secondly the diet should consist of high fiber which helps the growth of good gut bacteria along with a probiotic and fishoils and a multimineral supplement which replenishes the magnesium and zinc required by the gut bacteria.

If we don’t find and treat the route cause of the issue IBS will remain.The key to overcome IBS is to treat the issue at grass root level rather than finding temporary solutions to problems. It all starts in the gut and ends there hence a healthy gut is the symbol of good health.
