Acne Nutrition

Hormones play a havoc in our teens and the major outcome of this is acne. We all have gone through this phase of acne at least once in life and some women still go through it later in life. Having tried all different methodologies to treat acne, some of us are lucky to have no scars but most of them leave an ugly scar.

What causes Acne

The major cause for acne has to be understood and treated rather than treating the outbreak. Years of research has revealed some very interesting insights in the cause of acne

  1. Nutritional deficiencies
  2. Hormonal imbalances
  3. pH imbalance in the gut
  4. Gut infections
  5. Stress and toxicity

The number one leading cause is nutritional deficiency. We know that there is a world wide deficiency of Zinc, omega-3, omega-6 and vitamin B3 along with vitamin E and, of course, protein.

Nutrition for Acne

Some simple techniques to have clear and healthy skin we always wanted :

  1. Water: Water has the amazing property to throw out the toxins from our body and help maintain a balanced pH internally. About 4 litres of water a day will help throw out all the unwanted problem causing toxins and have a naturally healthy skin.
  2. Cleanse: Cleansing your skin twice a day helps in removing the surface dirt and clogging of pores. Use a natural cleanser like milk or non-comodogenic products.
  3. Omega-3: Helps control the production of sebum which causes the inflammatory acne. Have a few walnuts and flaxseeds to keep your skin healthy.
  4. Sleep:Sleep reduces stress. An 8 hr beauty sleep can do wonders for your skin.
  5. Fruits and Vegetables: Eating plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables locally grown, this will help increase the antioxidants and reduce the free radical damage.

Refrain from aerated and sugary drinks this summer and have more natural foods, this will help you maintain a good health inside out.
