Good thing about Ice cream –

  1. Good source of energy – Ice cream is the good source of energy, ice cream is rich in carbohydrate, one an half cup serving provides 15 gm of carbohydrate and it gives 7 gm of fat. It gives instant energy.
  2. Help to gain weight – Ice cream is rich in fat, carbohydrate; it can be enriched with dry fruits and syrup. It is tasty and pulls appetite. It also gives high calorie to the body. The unwanted calorie can give mass to the body.      Underweight children can have ice cream to pull up the weight.
  3. Good source of mineral– Ice cream is the good source of calcium and phosphorous. ½ cup ice cream provides 100 gm of calcium. It is good for bone health.
  4. Good source of vitamin- Ice cream has Vitamin A, B6, B 12, C, D, E & K.

Bad thing about ice cream –

  1. Increase risk of obesity – Ice cream provides more than 1000 calorie. Unused ice cream can lead to unnecessary weight gain of the children.
  2. Increase risk of heart problem- 2-ounce ice cream gives 40 gm of fat, which is bad for heart health for children.
  3. Lead to Hyperactivity- ice cream have lots of sugar, more sugar consumption makes the children hyperactive, it can bring behavioral changes.
  4. Cause indigestion and bloating- Ice cream contain high saturated fat and simple sugar which is not easily absorbed by the body can lead to indigestion and bloat.
  5. Throat problem- Ice cream is cold dessert. Frequent ice cream consumption can lead to the problem of tonsillitis, throat infection, congestions.
  6. Addiction – It has been found in research frozen items enhance the reward center of the brain by making it less pleasurable and send a signal of more eating to achieve euphoric feeling.

Ice cream can be given occasionally to children. Ice cream should not be consumed every day because it has delirious effect on health, instead of ice cream flavored yogurt, pudding, custards can be given
